F. Cirillo
She’s a pioneer

16.10, 7pm

During their performances, Alex Müller and F. Cirillo will perform their respective works in the exhibition “Further Thoughts on Earthy Materials”. In this way, they will pay special attention to the physicality as the thematic focus of the exhibition. In doing so, they will engage in different ways with the ceramic objects and their inherent themes.

In She’s a pioneer, F. Cirillo attributes the term “pioneer” to pioneer plants, which are the first living beings to make vegetation-free areas fertile. For example, lichens bring volcanic soil to life, but do not survive this generous act of giving itself. In connection with this, the vessels of She’s pagan are examined for their capacity of giving and receiving bodies, fluids and emotions. F. Cirillo is particularly interested in the dissolving of boundaries, which is expressed in the human need to encounter and absorb other bodies.

F. Cirillo (*1986 in Pompei) graduated in sculpture with Prof. Thomas Demand and Kerstin Brätsch at the HfBK Hamburg. Before that he studied performative arts and sculpture with Prof. Monica Bonvicini at the Academy of Arts in Vienna. He has been represented in exhibitions in Naples („Monaciello Disco“, Museo Civico Gaetano Filangieri, 2018) and Hamburg („Thank you Mother Tiger“, Il Caminetto, 2018; Working Scholarship 2018, Kunsthaus Hamburg, 2017) and supported by the Deutschlandsstipendium (2016), Fondazione Kaya (2018) and others
