For the event Uhrenvergleich (Watch comparison), Max Schaffer invites five artists with whom he has shared or is currently sharing a studio and with whom he is in regular contact.
In addition to a proposal for a film, each of the invited artists contributes an object which remains unknown to Schaffer until the event. At the GAK, objects and films meet the exhibition situation of Schaffer’s “Power of Style” and enter into a dialogue with each other.
The intention behind this approach is not curatorial in the classical sense. It is not bound to the claim of establishing content-related links and references in advance, but rather to generate a process-oriented, experimental set-up on site. This is manifested, like a short meeting, only for the evening of the event, and is to disappear again the next morning.
