Cabinet Gold van d’Vlies is the fusion of various artistic practices in varying media. The collective brings together independent artistic positions from the fields of design, photography, publishing and curatorial practice, which join forces for collaborative projects. Correspondingly, various results emerge in different constellations, e.g. the curation of the gallery FLUT at the HfK Bremen, the design and publishing of publications, the publication of several magazines and the mediation of their multifaceted work in performances.
The working method of Cabinet Gold van d’Vlies is characterized by a strong interest in the processual. The result of their production rarely embodies an end point, but rather traces thought processes and developments. Ephemeral lines of thought and production are thus reflected in content and form.
For “Beyond Words” the collective has taken on the design of exhibition brochures and posters and developed the performance MASH UP. For the latter, in accordance with the statement “what was the DJ in the 1990s is now the magazine maker – publishing has become chic” (Vanessa Adler), magazines, books and in-house productions are “put out”.
