Heinrich Dubel
Art is Nothing Without Science. The Erratics Institute Berlin

15.07, 7pm

Based on the idea that scientific development in its entirety only allows the conclusion that the world is inevitably becoming increasingly strange, Heinrich Dubel founded the Erratics Institute in Berlin in 1991. Erratics: the teaching of the mysterious and confusing, of deviation and deception, the science of error detection and material breakage. Recalling, among others, Deleuze and Guattari, the idea of the “pink sciences” is to be transferred into practice and to provoke borderlines. Erratics as a science remains undefined at first. However, despite all the fuzziness, concrete results of erratic-scientific research cannot be avoided, although – as Dubel never tires of emphasizing – work is never result-oriented. At the invitation of the GAK, founder Heinrich Dubel is now making his first attempt to define scientific erratics, presenting its disciplines and the most important results of his work in the various fields of research.

Heinrich Dubel is a journalist and media artist and lives in Berlin.
