Andreas Maus was born in Cologne in 1964 and lives there. Maus, who has his studio in the Kunsthaus KAT18 in Cologne, mainly produces drawings on paper that take up various subjects such as current politics, recent history, religious architecture, sports broadcasts on television or themes from his own life. Filigree and full of verve, his works show a network of lines from which sports figures grow out, as in this series. As part of the exhibition Pina Bausch and the Tanztheater at the Bundeskunsthalle Bonn 2016, Maus took part in a dance workshop with members of the ensemble. What he experienced later became the starting point for his pictorial exploration.
